Bigbury is located on the South-West coast of Devon, approximately 20 miles South East of Plymouth. It is immediately adjacent to the famous surfing beach of Bantham, and enjoys some very nice waves given the right conditions. Access is via the A379 and B3392 (signed "Burgh Island"). Follow the A38 / A381 from further afield. There is a very large car-park on two levels, good toilets and an excellent caf serving hot food most of the time. The webcam is on the caf roof.
Bigbury is a sandy bay flanked by Burgh Island (and the causeway to it at low tide) on one side and the river mouth separating it from Bantham on the other. The river contributes nasty currents (but probably helps the waves), and Burgh Island generates a wind shadow... Check out some other sites and speak to the locals before heading out here!
Due to the shape of the bay, Bigbury can be sheltered from the wind in some directions, SE to E being particularly bad, but the prevailing South-Westerly winds usually give good sailing conditions, and Westerlies can be excellent too. Surprisingly (if you haven't been there) North-Easterlies can also be very good, giving nice cross-off waveriding conditions. Launching area is shown by the red arrow. Exmouth is located on the South coast of Devon, approximately 10 miles South-East of Exeter. Access is via the A376, from either the M5, A30, A38 or A3052. Follow the signs to the seafront and carry right on along the front, past the Deer Leep pub and the mini roundabout. The local shop is on the left just after this roundabout, and the main car-park is a little further on.
The car-park is pretty big, but can get full quickly on sunny days. There is grass for rigging and a tap for washing the sand off your kit. There is also a grassy rigging area outside Waterfront Sports, but parking here is pretty scarce.

Exmouth is located on the South coast of Devon, approximately 10 miles South-East of Exeter. Access is via the A376, from either the M5, A30, A38 or A3052. Turn right at the first roundabout, and right at the second. Go left at the seafront (opposite the main car-park), and park next to the grass area. Pay at the machine in the main car-park during the summer season.
Car park spaces are limited, so it can get full quickly on sunny days. Just use the main car-park if it's busy. There is plenty of grass to rig on, and the launch is easy if a bit muddy. You'll have to wade out quite a long way if you have a big fin, as the edges are VERY shallow. The whole area is generally not much more than waist deep, until you sail out into the estuary proper, so watch out for the sandbars and shallowest sections. (It's a great place to sit and watch some spectacular catapults by the unwary...!)
