Paddle Boarding SUP / About paddle boarding

What is Paddle boarding?

Paddle-Surfing originated in Hawaii and was first known as 'Ku Ku Hoe', and soon became known as SUP (Stand Up Paddle boarding).
A well known pioneer of the sport was beach boy Ah Choy who developed the idea to take photos of tourists in Waikiki on the Island of Oahu. The Sport has sweep through the beaches of Hawaii, Australia, and now the Isle of Wight and many Uk and European beaches are seeing a huge trend towards this exceiting new sport. Part of its popularity is that big waves are not needed, and in fact waves in general are not essential at all. SUP users/surfers take to lakes, harbours, and many inland resorts and even use boat wakes to surf, as well as the huge ocean swells. There are even races between Islands, and long distance feats such as taking an SUP across the channel. SUP is a fantastic way to keep fit when the waves are not present and when they are you are fit and ready to surf!

Paddle Surfing has developed in a huge way since the early days and now leading companies such Escape Surfboards are producing state of the art lightweight Paddle Boards.
